Hope for the Future

I had purchased the necklace with the word "HOPE" engraved in it as a college graduation gift for my best friend.

Why the word "HOPE?" I knew from personal experience the many obstacles one faces when graduating college with a degree and no other plans ahead. After I had graduated the year before I can honestly say I had one of the toughest years of my life. I had a degree but only worked a low paying job. My family was struggling economically and continued to pressure me to figure out what exactly I wanted to do with my life. Many of my days I spent sad and alone. One thing that kept popping into my mind was to have hope. I knew without hope I wouldn't have much to believe in. So after having hope, I got accepted into my grad school of choice. Hope has inspired me to continue to move forward and succeed even with all the obstacles ahead.

Now, I pass it to my best friend. My best friend has already endure many obstacles throughout her years. She is undocumented and came to the U.S. at a young age. She has faced discrimination and has been limited to jobs and receiving her education because of her status. So now that she has accomplished graduating college I want her to continue to have hope. Hope will give her strength that she will over come the challenges along the way and soon she will be able to reach all her goals.
