Jack's Key

I am the mother of a soon to be 19 year old. At age 17, while I was undergoing treatment for cancer, we had to send Jack to a residential treatment center in Utah for heroin addiction, and acute anxiety/depression after exhausting all of the treatment opinions here at home. Without a doubt, this heart retching decision saved his life. Not once has been angry or bitter. Currently, he is in Long Beach an extended treatment facility and is working very hard to maintain his sobriety and keep his anxiety managed. For Jack's 19th birthday, I decided to give him a key. I asked him randomly, what word best explains his current head space. Jack answered "content". I cannot think of any word that could have made me happier!

  • I recently purchased a "Giving Key "for my daughter while on Cape Cod. She had been struggling with some family issues and when upset I always tell her to “BREATHE”,which is the key I purchased. Upon us returning home, her father-in-law had suffered a severe brain bleed, and she is wearing the bracelet. to remind her to be calm and ’BREATHE during this trying time.
