I am giving this key to my younger sister Allie, who has been the epitome of "Fearless" her entire life. She is fearless in giving her kindness to others, fearless in the way she lives her life from day to day, and most importantly fearless in pursuing her dreams.
I still remember talking to her after school one day (when she was in elementary school) and listening to how a group of girls had been so mean to another girl in her class. It would have been easy for Allie to follow along with the group and join in on the teasing, but instead she chose to befriend the other girl in her class because she did not believe that anyone should be treated in that way. I was so amazed at how much fearlessness, kindness, and compassion could come from someone so young. Allie has continued to live in this way throughout her life, not taking the easy way out but being brave enough to stand up for what she believes in and in this way she has always been such an inspiration to me.
Another memory I have of Allie is when I took her to ride her first real roller coaster, and this roller coaster was not small by any means! As we got closer to the front of the line, I could see in her eyes how scared she was, but in her heart she was brave and determined to get on. After the ride, her facial expression changed from fear to happiness and joy.
Allie is also fearless on the soccer field. She is such a great soccer player today because she is never scared to give it everything she's got during every game and practice. She always works so hard and because of this she even beats all of the boys when they run sprints in gym class. I am so proud of her and can't wait to see what the future holds for her soccer playing career.
Finally, Allie is an incredible singer. I don't know many 12 year olds that can say they were brave enough to play the lead role in their 5th grade play or to sing the national anthem in front of hundreds of people.
My sister has always taken chances even when she has been scared because she knows they can lead to incredible rewards. This fearlessness to dive into the unknown and not be afraid to take a chance is something that I hope she continues doing for the rest of her life because it is part of what makes her so special.
She is so talented and so fearless in pursuing her dreams. I know that whatever Allie decides to do, she will be amazing at it. My hope for her is that she continues to pursue her dreams without hesitation, to take chances, to stand up for what she believes in, and give the same love and kindness she has always been so brave to give. Allie, you are amazing and I love you so much. Always stay fearless and fabulous :)
