A Mother's Courage

I recently found the perfect time to give away my key necklace to my good friend Kayla. She has had a few very difficult years followed by a true miracle. Kayla and her husband had been trying to have a baby for over 2 years. After numerous fertility treatments and a serious surgery they decided to take a break from trying to have a baby. One day when they weren't even trying Kayla found out she was pregnant when she went in to do what she though would be her final round of treatments. Now she has a beautiful baby boy who is her dream come true.

We were out last weekend and talking about how amazingly blessed she truly is, when she started to tear up because she had to go back to work and leave her son at daycare for the first time. I know this is a hard situation for many moms, but it seemed extremely difficult to her after all she had been through. That is when it came to me. I reached around my neck and grabbed the key that had given my "courage" throughout some of my toughest times. She was speechless and I could see her becoming very emotional.

I told her that whenever she felt scared or worried about her boy, that all she had to do was look at the necklace and try to remember to have courage.

So many mothers are very courageous every single day and we wouldn't be here without their love and support. I want to let this story be a reminder of how amazing our moms really are. Thank you to The Giving Keys for helping me help someone else. This is really what life is all about.
