I was given my Courage key by an old coworker at a send off party after leaving my first real job.
It came at the perfect time, as I had just recently lost my grandmother, ended a pretty unhealthy relationship, and was leaving some really awesome coworkers and kids at this job. I was experiencing a lot of loss and this necklace was a symbol of the Courage I needed each day to power through this transition.
I recently passed on the necklace to one of my best friends from high school on the day that her mom was returning home from detox. All I had to do was show it to her and she knew how much it meant to me to give it away to her. We cried, then laughed, then went shopping.
