My life hasn't always been easy - I've lost both my parents and I went through a horrible divorce that took almost 10 years from start to finish (just to name a few).
I had ordered myself a key that had the word "BREATHE" inscribed on it. That had been my word that kept me going through the hardest of times. And it is also a good reminder for myself that this too will subside (whatever situation would rise up) and I will get through.
Not even 12hrs later, I meet a friend (who is going through her own personal stuff) and she noticed my key. I immediately took it off my neck and gave it to her. Explaining to her what The Giving Keys are all about and that after your story is finished you "pay it forward".
She started to cry - put the necklace on her neck - grabbed on to that key for dear life - took a deep breath and thanked me. Not that I have much and I am certainly not rich but I knew she needed that key more than me.
That was 2 days ago. She called me this morning to say that she was having a bad day and wanted to me know that she is holding her key and it's helping her Breathe.
I am happy that I gave her my key and I told her when she is done she needs to pay it forward. And she promised me she would. I think I forgot to mention that the second I got home the other day (after giving her my key) - I ordered myself I knew one because my story isn't finished - it just paused.
