On December 23, 2014, I was at our traditional Christmas dinner with my ex-sister-in-law and her new husband. The woman my brother had been married to for over twenty years and had raised two beautiful children with. My ex-sister-in-law had recently been diagnosed with breast cancer and was enduring chemotherapy. She had just days prior shaved her head and that night with strength and courage removed her wig, sat on the floor and laughed and played with my young sons with joy and happiness. With 8 people in the room, she was the one person who SHINED the most; the one person with the most beauty inside and out; the one person with strength, happiness & laughter. She amazed me. She truly does SHINE & I hope she continues to SHINE in my life & more importantly my boys’ life for years to come.
