The First Step Is The Hardest To Take

4 years ago I was asked what I would like for my birthday. I told my bunch of friends I would like a "Giving Key" only that the word on the key was something for them to decide. When I got my Giving Key, it was stamped with "Boldness". Then I did not understand boldness, I thought it was just about sharing the gospel with the people I love. Over the years and especially in the one that just passed, I've learned how boldness is more than that. It meant taking uncalculated risks, that leap of faith. While life's circumstances are beyond my control, I am able to control the way I would respond. It greatly challenged my beliefs and taught me much about boldness. A particular verse from the bible encouraged me greatly, "For we live by believing and not by seeing" (2 Corinthians 5:7). In the past half-a-year, I've also got to know a young girl whom had to made many difficult decisions, decisions that took a woman to make. I've passed on my "boldness" key to her, in hope of encouraging her to take her first steps in boldness and courage. That first step is the hardest to take, but also most necessary before a momentum can be established.
