Stay Strong

Well, here's the story of my giving key. Whenever I was around the age of 13, I was going through some very hard trials in my life, such as severe depression/anxiety issues. I finally got to a point where I was cutting myself every day. So, of course, I wanted to give up. I tried to give up. I tried to commit sucide and luckily it didn't work because if it did, I wouldn't be here to tell you my story. After a few weeks of treatment in a mental hospital, Christmas was right around the corner. My older cousin whom had just lost her beloved father gave me a key that read my favorite saying, "Stay Strong". I went on to read the stories of the giving keys and could not wait to see what mine would end up being...well, here it is, about 4-5 years later.

My other cousin (not the one who gave me the key) committed sucide a few days ago, leaving behind her two daughters. Her daughters (my second cousins) are 20 & 17. The 20 year old has taken it much harder and seems like she could have stopped her mom somehow, but in reality, she couldn't. Her amazingly beautiful mother let her demons win. There was nothing she could do. Today was the funeral. It was the saddest funeral I have been to in my entire life (and I've been to A LOT of funerals-13 to be exact). I couldn't help my look over and see my second cousin's heart breaking more and more during the ceremony. All day all I have been thinking about is what I can do to help her. Ironically, I was cleaning out my jewelry drawer to find a necklace to wear today and I came across the key, so I accidentally left it out on my bedside table.

I then began to type this message to my cousin,

"so, since I don't know when the next time I'll see you is gonna be, I'll just send you this in text. this a link to something called 'The Giving Keys' so to begin, open the link and watch the video.http://youtu.be/VBjlJ1tVxtM
so, you get the idea right? well a long time ago whenever I was going through some really tough trials in my life, someone gave me
one of these keys. my key said 'stay strong' which is one of my favorite quotes of all time. The idea of the giving keys is to give it away whenever you think someone needs it more than you and you continue to pass it on. Since I'm not with you to physically give it to you, I'm gonna do it like this. I am passing my giving key on to someone who needs it more than me now. I am passing it on to you. so, heres my giving key for you, A. I love you so much."

This is the story of my giving key.
