Unwavering Friendship

Some people cross your path and change your entire direction.

There comes a point in your life when you meet someone who makes such a difference in your life, that you can't even imagine how you survived without them. That one person who points you in the right direction, who motivates you and encourages you, but most importantly, who inspires you to become the best version of yourself.

This remarkable woman became my dryland trainer 13 months ago. As a competitive Masters swimmer, I needed to add dryland into my training because it was something that was missing from me becoming accomplished at what I was starting to dedicate my life to. From the beginning, her guidance and her acceptance was unwavering. She pushed me more than I could ever think possible. But it wasn't just that. She listened to me and that was something that was missing from my life. I didn't have that one person who would whole heartedly, listen to me, no matter what situation I was in. She listens to me talk about my successes and my disappointments. She listens to me talk about my struggles in my life and the challenges that I have overcome. She listens to me talk about my dreams and my fears. To find someone who accepts you for who you are and supports you no matter what, is something that is truly hard to find and when you do find that person, you need to make sure that you hold on to them forever.

Without a doubt, I have become a better swimmer because of her, but it has been way more than that. She has inspired me to never give up. She has inspired me to become a better person. She has inspired me to accomplish things that I never thought would be possible. But most importantly, it's not only me that she's inspiring. She inspires each and every person who is fortunate enough meet her. She makes such a difference in so many people's lives and that is why she deserves her INSPIRE key. I want her to remember that, every, single day she is inspiring everyone around her. I am so lucky that she walked into my life when she did and I am now so lucky that I am able to now, also call her my friend.
