My friend Rebecca asked me about the core values of my company. When I recited them and told her how closely we follow them, using them like a rubric for every decision we make, she stopped me when I said, "Community."
"Community is one of your core values?"
"Yep! We want our staff members to feel like they're a part of a community so that they can then extend that invitation to our clients."
"Well, I guess you need this then!"
She took off her key and put it around my neck. She explained the story of the Giving Keys and when I looked at mine, it read, "Community."
I'm still wearing my key, waiting to meet someone else who needs community. :)
