I had gotten the "INSPIRE" key with hopes of both inspiring someone, as well as being inspired. It's rare to find someone in the entertainment industry who speaks out about common issues ranging from depression awareness to human rights. Not many artists or actors are willing to admit that they're not perfect, and it's okay to make mistakes. I've been ever so fortunate to come across someone who is that "one in a million" so to speak. Camila Cabello defines inspiration. She is 1/5 of the girl group Fifth Harmony, and along with the other 4 girls, she has made a huge positive impact on my life.
I decided I was ready to give away my key, and I knew I wanted Camila to have it. I wrote a letter explaining what the key means to me, as well as what I hoped it would mean to her. The day I saw her, I passed the letter and the key to her and was left to wait...
No more than 5 minutes later, I saw that Camila tweeted me on Twitter with the most heartfelt response to the letter and key. Two days later, she posted a picture of the key on Instagram. The following day, she was seen wearing the key!
To know that the key means a lot to her, makes me so happy. She inspires me everyday and always makes my days better, whether it be through her music, funny interviews, or relatable tumblr posts. She has inspired me to believe in myself, believe that I am beautiful, and has helped me realize that it's okay to make mistakes.
I recently got another giving key for myself, this time saying "FREEDOM." I hope to one day live in freedom; free of negativity, doubts I have, bad memories, and just be happy. Camila inspires me every day and is making my battle towards freedom that much easier. I owe her the world. But for now, a simple thank you will have to do.
