Peace In The Storm

I am a former 7th grade English teacher who suffers from many auto-immune diseases that have caused me to take early retirement and be disabled, along with suffering financially.

Two years ago I had a major surgery and almost died. A friend I haven't seen in 31 years sent me the PEACE key two years ago, as well as painting me a picture of a sparrow, because I have claimed Matthew 6:26, the verse in the Bible that talks about how God takes care of the birds and the flowers, so he surely must care for me. "His Eye Is on the Sparrow" has been my theme song and helped me through many difficult days.

I have a friend who just found out that she has a rare form of lung cancer for the second time. I taught her when she was in the 6th grade, and her mother and I are dear friends. The first round was two years ago, and she lost a lung. She is 31 and a single mom of two boys ages 2 and 10. The doctors haven't given her much hope, but she is fighting. Her chemo will be exceptionally strong and make her very ill. She is not a candidate for a lung transplant because of the agressive form of the cancer. They say it will just come back in the transplanted lung.

I am praying that somehow, someway, she finds PEACE in all of this storm. I gave her my key. I can't imagine facing not seeing my kids grow up and seeing what they become, seeing their weddings, and never being able to hold my grandchild, but this is what she is facing. She needs the PEACE key more than I do!
