Christmas of 2016 I was given the Inspire key as a gift. This gift was a catalyst to my decision to start my own company, to truly be an inspiring woman, and to reinvent myself at 55 after the loss of my 25-year marriage. Wanting to help other women in transition, I have started the nonprofit Her Own Home.
I am now so moved to pass my Key on to my 27-year-old niece, Caitlin. Caitlin has been through much heartache over these past 7 years. Her younger brother committed suicide at 18, and the grief took a hold of her hard. She began to drink heavily to mask the pain of his death. Somehow she made it through law school, but her own dark thoughts took hold. Two years ago she checked herself in to rehab.
The battle to get sober and to feel the grief has been very difficult. But when she falls, she gets up! Caitlin attempted the bar exam and she did not pass. Defeat did not keep her down, leading her to a second try. She was not successful. Shaken but sober, Caitlin persisted. She stepped back into the arena to fight for her dream of being a lawyer. I am honored to say victory is hers! She will be sworn in next week.
Her perseverance is truly inspiring. I am so proud of her strength and her bravery. Caitlin, with great love, I give you my Inspire key.
You are very inspiring!
