Resilience

In June 2016, I crashed my motorcycle. The accident was painful, demoralizing and expensive, so I grew depressed. The Strength Giving Key was given to me for my birthday. A month after that and once I could drive, I hung it in my car as a reminder that I was resilient. Around the same time that I got into the accident, my best friend was sexually assaulted which resulted in severe PTSD. We spent many hours together – me confined to my house due to unnavigable stairs, she afraid to be alone in her home. Now months later, she told me today that she finished her victim impact statement, which has to be read during his official sentencing. I handed her the Strength key. Even if she doesn't need it, she sure does deserve it.
