She Was Courageous

I got a Giving Key a year ago when we lost our son at 23 years old. My key said "Courage". I wore it every single day since I bought it. And I bought several for other family members and friends. I went on a mission trip last week to Costa Rica. We spent our time in a very small community in Cot, Costa Rica just outside Cartago. My sister and I stayed with a host family, Martina and her 26 yr old son Hector. We spoke no Spanish and they spoke no English but we managed to communicate and they opened up their home to us. They live in very dire circumstances with little to get by.

One evening our Pastor came by to talk with them in Spanish and get their story. Once I heard their very sad story and that they were close to losing what home they did have I felt compelled to pass on my key to Martina. I wasn't sure if Courage was the right word but once our Pastor told Martina The Giving Keys story and I gave mine to her, she cried and said her Pappa always told her she was courageous.

It made me feel blessed to know that God put me and my sister in that home so we could share love and compassion with her and my Giving Key! I went today and got me a replacement one! :))
