Not Alone

In September 2015 I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I came to New York from the UK to visit my son knowing that once I returned I would face surgery. During that week, Liberty Church NY held a Sisterhood evening. My friends in NY were so supportive and loving. During the evening Pastor Andi called me forward and gave me a key engraved with Fight.

To me it was a reminder in the days to come through 2 surgeries, 8 rounds of chemo and 4 weeks or radiotherapy, that I am cheered on by a host of praying women in New York. That the fight is not mine but God's and He is faithful. My key has opened up so many conversations with friends, work colleagues and the medical teams.

In September 2016 I returned to New York to say thank you for all the love and prayers. I am clear of cancer! This time though came the news that my beautiful, created, gifted musician friend in NY was diagnosed with a brain tumor.

She now wears my key as a continuing symbol of hope and a reminder that in the dark days she is not alone but there is an army of praying women fighting on her behalf.
