When I was sixteen years old I was drugged and raped at a high school party. Two fellow classmates walked in on it happening and instead of stopping they only assumed that I was gay and was only having sex. The rumor mill in high school worked in overtime, it seemed, during that time frame. But every day I would get up and force myself to pretend that everything was okay... Fast forward to six years, age 22, and I was in a place I never want to be again. Struggling with addiction and ways to numb the pain from my past.. I've been sober for quite some time now.. And I wanted the key to remind me to persevere through all of life's challenges. To stay strong through the bad days... To persevere and never go back to the old thought processes..
