My husband, the sweet man he is, gifted me with a "HOPE" necklace to remind me to expect God's goodness no matter what season I find myself in or what circumstances seem to be looming.
I wore it every single day and it indeed was a wonderful reminder! I recently had the privilege of being at an event where a local ministry for children of incarcerated parents were in attendance. A seven year old girl from that home approached me and we began to talk. She questioned me about my necklace and I was able to talk to her a little bit about what it means to hope. I instantly felt as though I should give her my necklace. I told her that whenever she wears it, to be reminded that she has a limitless supply of hope available to her no matter what life may bring. I also encouraged her to share this necklace with her two younger sisters who are also being housed by this ministry. She told me that one day she would give it to someone who needs to be reminded about hope, but for now she will be the one wearing it lol! Later, I found out that this young girl's mother had brought her and her siblings to this home because she no longer could handle the responsibility of being their mother. As far as we know, the mother and father of these children are both currently incarcerated.
What a privilege to pay it forward! Something so simple can leave such a mark on both the giver and the receiver! Thank you Giving Keys!
