Faith, Hope and Courage

My sister was diagnosed with cervical cancer in August 2014. It’s been an extremely hard year for our family. When she was first diagnosed, we assumed she would get treatment, and would be fine. Unfortunately the treatment has not given the results we hoped for, and we have been left with a situation we don’t quite know how to deal with. Our faith has been a big part of our family, to say the least, but in the last few months I have struggled with doubts that I never thought would be possible.

When I first heard about the Giving Keys, I knew I wanted to buy one for my sister, but was having trouble deciding between faith, hope and courage. Then I saw a key that quoted Isaiah 41:10, and I knew that was the key that was meant for her, and maybe for myself and other family members as well. It’s easy to feel like God has forgotten us during this time, but I hope that each time she sees this key, she will remember the verse referenced on her key: “Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.” This key was our birthday present to my sister, who turns 39 this Tuesday. I pray it gives her the comfort it gave me.

Happy Birthday Jennifer! We love you more than you’ll ever know.
