My best friend and I met during high school back in 1993. We could have never understood back then just how our friendship would grow over the next 23 years. Through high school to college, summer and winter break jobs, through marriages and births of our children... we were by each other's side. In fact, people would often mistake us for sisters. We would joke that our parents couldn't handle us as sisters, so God made us friends. At the young age of 33, my best friend, Monica was diagnosed with breast cancer. Through surgeries and chemo, she always kept that bright eyed smile and a positive attitude. She continued to teach, take care of her family and even workout. She would show cancer who was boss! And she did for several years. Sadly, Monica's cancer would return but she was fully prepared to fight yet again. She fought with such courage, hope, and grace. Last Christmas, I gave Monica the Hope Giving Key. No matter what, Monica always kept HOPE and clung to God's promises for her (and for us all). But I also wanted the key to be a reminder to her of that same HOPE during the difficult days. We had no idea that would be our last Christmas with Monica here on earth. In early October, my friend went to be with our Heavenly Father. When my husband asked me what I would like for Christmas, I made mention of The Giving Keys and how special I thought they were. Little did I know, he came up with a plan... Along with Monica's husband's help and both of their kind and thoughtful hearts, I now have Monica's Giving Key.... The very same key that I gave my best friend one year ago, and I now will wear close to my heart. HOPE... for I know the plans that God has for me and her. ❤️
