One of my best friends just quit her job and is about to leave to travel the world for a year. She's nervous, and is having a hard time saying goodbye to friends and family. She has been through some very difficult challenges for a 24 year old, and yet, she still lives life to the fullest. She lost her mom to cancer in high school, she is estranged from her father and sister, and lives far away from her grandparents. She truly has built her family and foundation in our little college town.
She is an incredible friend and I admire her perseverance, carefree personality and determination to accomplish any challenge in her path. She's like the sister I never had, and while I'm unbelievably excited for this next chapter in her life, I'm going to miss her so much. I gave her the necklace because I knew she needed that confidence boost that she is making the right choice to explore and travel the world. I can't wait to see her growth throughout this year, and I hope to visit her sooner than later.
