My Story
I was given my "strength" giving key by my 1st cousin Janet, after she lost her husband following a battle from cancer. We didn't have much contact with each other over the years, but I always admired what a strong woman she had become, having to finish raising their two sons. I lost my husband suddenly in 2021 (60 years old) and although my two daughters were grown and married with families, I didn't know how I would be able to go on and find happiness without my husband. We were high school sweethearts and were together for 43 years.
It was a first year of mixed up feelings and a lot of loneliness at times, but I would look at the "strength key" and know I just had to find a way to keep going and try to be happy moving forward. After getting through that "first year" of holidays, birthdays, anniversaries, etc, I feel like I am getting stronger every day. This past week, my "little brother" who is 56, lost his wife after a long time of suffering. I intend to pass this "strength key" onto Jim and hope he will fight through the hard times and in turn find peace and happiness.
