My Story
I was born in a time when this was always our world. I've grown up where poverty is strewn around us, in more places than we recognize. Although this is the only world I've known, it's the one we must strive to improve.
I'm Kate Larson, and I'm a 13 year old country musician and singer/songwriter. Music has always been a way for me to connect with others and a way to share what each of us have been through, and my passion for further recognizing those living in poverty and homelessness, came back to music. Tennille Townes, an incredible musician, and person, whom I got the opportunity to meet, has inspired me so much, and her song "Somebody's Daughter" shares the story of how we all matter and how we all mean something to someone.
I encourage everyone to listen to her words. When I drive down the street of my hometown, I often see those living in homelessness, and I can't help but wonder how they got there. What cause of events lead them to this place, and why is it me that's driving by? Each one of them is somebody, somebody with a past, possibly a family, somebody with a story.
We all have something to share and I wear my Giving Keys necklace everyday, because it reminds me of that. Everyone has a story, and everyone should get a chance to share it.
