Taryn Southern’s Future Is...
The future is... UNKNOWN The year 2017 was a lesson in making no small plans; 2018 was a lesson in throwing it all out the window. 2019 is now about combining these two things: Thinking big and being willing to embrace the unknown. It’s part of what makes the future so exciting. The best way to embody the unknown is to expect it - the good and the bad - and not let it rattle your core. Maintaining this attitude is a way of being present and staying grounded during the winds of change. It's easier said than done, but meditation and self care are two ways to help embrace and handle the uncertainty of the future. In 2019, I plan to throw out the powerful jolt of imposter syndrome I feel from time to time. Imposter syndrome is a thought pattern that causes you to doubt your accomplishments and have a persistent fear of being exposed as a fraud. I’ve had these thoughts for as long as I can remember and I promise to remind myself in 2019 that my constant desire to get better or learn more is not a cause for feeling like I don’t deserve an opportunity. As we all move into this next year together, remember to take care of yourself, to take stock of and value who you are. You can’t be expected to steer a ship through a storm if you’re feeling seasick. Calm the inner turmoil. Seek your future and do what you need to do to stay level headed so you can navigate this next year with clarity and intention.
