I was in Zambia Africa last month and in our travels I met a woman named Margaret who is taking in and taking care of a few girls who are living on the street. With no other resources they give their bodies away to feed themselves and their orphaned siblings. These girls do the unspeakable just to live another day. One girl put it “Either we starve to death today or die from AIDS tomorrow.” Margaret is helping 3 of those such girls now by teaching them a trade and trying to help them realize the redemptive power of Jesus Christ. On the night before I returned to the states I was able to take off my necklace that read “HOPE” and place it around her neck. I thanked her for her sacrifice and encouraged her to keep giving hope to these hopeless young women. I pray that this wonderful necklace is a reminder every time she sees it.
