Compass

January 6, 2011 was the worst day of my life when I found out that my younger brother died from an unexpected drug overdose. He was brilliant and could fix any power tool you handed him with a promising future. He had great personality, handsome, loving soul and deeply touched the life of anyone he ever met so it was a complete shock to all his family and friends when we found out how he died. About 6 months later in July of 2011 my mother was diagnosed with cancer. Suffice to say I could not wait for 2011 to be over because it was a never ending nightmare. On the year anniversary of my brother’s death I received a card from my cousin who lives in California with a beautiful saying and a business card for The Giving Keys. I was so moved by the power and message behind the mission of what the giving keys stand for. I ordered one for myself engraved “COMPASS,” to help me find new direction in a life where I have to search for acceptance and peace to move forward in this journey without my brother and the hardships with my mother.
