One of the bravest gals I know, Alison Smidt, #teamalijoys. Alison and I played college softball together and she for a long time had been battling an auto-immune health challenge and if that was not enough, this past year she went toe to toe with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma and started an 8-round of chemotherapy process that spanned from January to June. She documented her entire process, rounds of chemo, the shaving of her head, to good and bad days, care packages sent to her, etc on Instagram.
On Saturday morning, July 9th she and I were finally able to meet for breakfast. She bravely told me the entire journey, from the symptoms to the diagnoses and the journey she is on.
I had been given the "Inspire" Giving Key earlier in the Spring and knew immediately once we made our breakfast plans that she was the one to be given the Giving Key.
Her joy through the journey has been nothing short of awe inspiring to me. I often have her in my mind and prayers and when I see her updates I have tears in my eyes to see the courage and bravery she exhibits day by day, step by step.
