Today marks five years since my zip-lining accident that left me unable to walk.
It’s crazy how your life can change in a split second. It’s hard to relive some of those moments, but it’s all a part of my story. This is for the doctors who told me I’d never walk/feel my leg again and to get used to a wheelchair.
Also, thank you to my dear friend for giving me this Giving Key shortly after my accident. It has been a constant reminder to never stop believing!
I do physical therapy and exercise EVERY. DAY. I’ve had to relearn how to stand, walk, write and many other minuscule tasks (like brushing my teeth) that seemed so easy before this accident. I still don’t have feeling in my left leg (with the exception of my toes), but I pray every day that it will fully heal. I’ve also learned to NEVER take my health for granted ever again. I appreciate the ability to move more than ever. I also have so much respect and empathy for anyone in a wheelchair.
These tests are becoming my testimony. There’s a reason for this season in my life, and I hope my story will help or inspire someone going through a tough time. Don’t stop believing.
Lastly, I want to thank God, my AMAZING parents, family (pets included), friends and complete strangers who have prayed over me, supported me and cheered for me throughout this recovery. I couldn’t have gotten to this point without them.
I am blessed by the best!
SPOILER: I proved those doctors wrong.
