My son starts kindergarten next Tuesday and last night was the "Back To School" event where he met his teacher and saw his new classroom. My normally outgoing and confident boy seemed nervous and whispered to me several times that he was scared. Back at home he tearfully asked why he couldn't go back to his preschool class. We talked about facing new things even though we are scared and uncertain. I gave him the COURAGE key to put on his new carabiner key chain and we read Joshua 1:9, "...Be strong and of good courage; don't be afraid, because the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go."
He is going to take his key to school every day and his bright smile reassures his anxious mama that he will remember to be brave and face new situations in spite of his fear.
